Telehealth Informed Consent
Last Updated: June 8, 2026
Effective Date: June 8, 2026
Please read this Telehealth Informed Consent carefully. By using ArgoMD's telehealth services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms outlined below. If you do not agree, please do not use our telehealth services.
1. What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth involves the use of electronic communications, software, and technology to enable healthcare providers to deliver clinical services to patients without an in-person visit. Through ArgoMD's secure platform, you can consult with licensed healthcare providers using video, audio, messaging, and other digital tools from the convenience of your own location.
Telehealth services offered through ArgoMD include, but are not limited to:
- Online health assessments and medical intake questionnaires
- Asynchronous consultations with licensed physicians and other qualified healthcare providers
- Electronic review of your health information and medical history
- Digital prescribing and referral services, where medically appropriate and legally permitted
- Secure messaging with your care team regarding treatment and follow-up
2. How Telehealth Works at ArgoMD
When you use ArgoMD's telehealth services, the following process typically occurs:
- You complete a comprehensive online health questionnaire providing your medical history, current symptoms, and other relevant health information.
- A licensed healthcare provider licensed in your state reviews your submitted information through our secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.
- The provider may follow up with additional questions via secure messaging if more information is needed to make a clinical determination.
- The provider evaluates whether the requested treatment is medically appropriate for you based on the information provided.
- If treatment is approved, an electronic prescription may be sent to a partnered pharmacy for fulfillment and discreet delivery to your address.
- You may message your care team through our platform for follow-up questions or concerns.
You understand that telehealth visits are not conducted in real-time video or audio in all cases. Many consultations are asynchronous, meaning the provider reviews your information and responds at a later time.
3. Technology Requirements
To use ArgoMD's telehealth services, you will need:
- A compatible device (smartphone, tablet, or computer) with internet access
- An up-to-date web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge)
- A valid email address for account creation and communication
- A reliable internet connection
You are responsible for ensuring your device and internet connection are functional. ArgoMD is not responsible for delays in care due to technical issues on your end, including but not limited to poor internet connectivity, device malfunction, or outdated software.
4. Benefits of Telehealth
Telehealth can offer several benefits, including:
- Convenient access to healthcare from your home or other private location
- Reduced travel time and associated costs
- Faster access to a healthcare provider compared to traditional in-person appointments
- Ability to consult with providers who may not be available in your immediate geographic area
- More efficient management of certain health conditions and medication refills
- Reduced exposure to communicable illnesses in waiting rooms
5. Risks and Limitations of Telehealth
While telehealth offers many benefits, it also has risks and limitations. By using our services, you acknowledge and understand the following:
5.1 Limitations of Remote Evaluation
Telehealth does not replace in-person medical care. Because your provider cannot conduct a physical examination in person, certain clinical signs, symptoms, or conditions may not be detectable through remote consultation. This could potentially lead to:
- A delay in diagnosis or treatment
- A missed diagnosis that might have been identified during an in-person examination
- The inability to detect certain physical findings (e.g., abnormal vital signs, physical masses, or subtle physical cues)
- A determination that an in-person visit is necessary before treatment can be provided
5.2 Technical Risks
Technology is not perfect. Potential technical issues include:
- Internet connectivity failures, platform downtime, or data transmission delays
- Security breaches, unauthorized access, or data loss (despite our security measures)
- Poor image or sound quality that may limit the provider's ability to assess your condition
- Loss or corruption of your health records due to software or hardware failures
5.3 Information Accuracy
The quality of telehealth care depends on the accuracy and completeness of the information you provide. You must provide truthful, complete, and accurate information about your medical history, symptoms, current medications, allergies, and other health details. Withholding or misrepresenting information may result in inappropriate treatment, misdiagnosis, or harm.
5.4 Not for Emergencies
ArgoMD's telehealth services are not intended for emergency medical situations. If you are experiencing a medical emergency — including but not limited to chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding, signs of stroke, or thoughts of harming yourself or others — call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a telehealth response.
6. Privacy and Security
ArgoMD takes your privacy seriously. We use industry-standard encryption, secure servers, and access controls to protect your personal and health information. Our platform is designed to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable privacy laws.
However, as with any internet-based service, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using our services in a private setting to prevent unauthorized individuals from overhearing or viewing your consultation.
For more details, please review our Privacy Policy and HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.
7. Provider Licensure and Qualifications
All healthcare providers who review your information and make treatment decisions through ArgoMD are licensed to practice medicine in the state where you are located at the time of the consultation. Providers are independently contracted and are not employees of ArgoMD. ArgoMD itself does not practice medicine or render medical advice.
You may request the name, credentials, and state of licensure of the provider reviewing your case at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
8. Your Rights as a Patient
You have the following rights regarding telehealth services:
- Right to Refuse: You may decline telehealth services at any time and request in-person care instead, though ArgoMD does not provide in-person services directly and may not be able to accommodate such requests.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent to receive telehealth services at any time by notifying us in writing. Withdrawal of consent will not affect any services already rendered or actions already taken.
- Right to Access Your Records: You have the right to access your medical records maintained by ArgoMD and our partner providers, subject to applicable laws.
- Right to Ask Questions: You may ask questions about the telehealth process, your diagnosis, treatment options, and alternatives at any time.
- Right to Alternative Care: You may seek a second opinion or in-person evaluation from another healthcare provider at any time.
9. Prescription Policy
Prescriptions are issued only when a licensed provider determines, in their sole professional judgment, that a medication is medically appropriate based on the information you provide. Providers have the right and obligation to deny prescriptions if they determine that telehealth is not appropriate for your condition, more information is needed, or the requested treatment is not clinically indicated.
Controlled substances are not prescribed through ArgoMD's platform. Certain medications may require additional verification or an in-person examination before they can be prescribed.
10. Emergency Protocols
If a provider reviewing your case believes you may be experiencing a medical emergency or a condition requiring urgent in-person evaluation, they may:
- Advise you to seek immediate in-person care or call 911
- Decline to provide treatment through the telehealth platform
- Recommend that you visit an emergency room or urgent care facility
ArgoMD and its providers are not responsible for any delays in care resulting from your failure to follow emergency recommendations.
11. State-Specific Requirements
Telehealth is regulated at the state level, and requirements vary by jurisdiction. By using our services, you represent that you are located in a state where ArgoMD's services are available. You must provide your current location at the time of each consultation. It is your responsibility to inform us if you move to or are temporarily located in a different state, as this may affect your eligibility for services.
12. Patient Responsibilities
To ensure safe and effective care, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and truthful information about your health history, symptoms, and current medications
- Notify us of any changes to your health status, new diagnoses, or new medications
- Follow the treatment plan and instructions provided by your healthcare provider
- Seek in-person medical care when recommended or when your condition worsens
- Use our services from a private, secure location
- Be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)
13. How to File a Complaint
If you have concerns about the quality of care you received or wish to file a complaint about a provider, you may:
- Contact ArgoMD at [email protected]
- File a complaint with the state medical board in the state where the provider is licensed
- File a complaint with the Oregon Board of Medicine if applicable
Filing a complaint will not result in retaliation or affect your access to care.
